Our business background
is much more diverse than that of your typical meeting planners or travel
agents and, unlike some of our generic large competitors, we think you
deserve to know exactly who you are dealing with. We offer you
more than simply expertise in planning meetings, events, and incentives,
because we are not only event planning professionals but also experienced
in the fields of public relations, marketing and finance. We have
an ownership mentality because we are owners, and we have worked
with all sorts of organizations, ranging from small start-ups and local
businesses to global corporations and government entities. And we have
also worked with all sorts of people, from technicians and sales executives
to CEOs and sheiks.
To our clients, we are not simply a faceless vendor, but a trusted
partner and consultant with decades of business and travel experience
on tap. This is why even large companies with in-house meeting planners
and travel managers often call on us for specialized assistance.
Our opinions and observations are also often solicited by the media, students
of hospitality and tourism management, and larger MICE industry participants
such as hotel companies, tour operators, airlines, CVBs, tourist boards,
etc. In a world of constant change, and in a business where service is
often inconsistent, pricing is fluid, and brand names don't mean very
much, you can count on us. We are accountable, accessible, and at your
service.
At Schron Associates, you don't deal with a franchisee of someone else's
brand, commission-hungry sales reps, a slick website or a faceless call
center, you deal with the people in charge who will give you only
customized, realistic, and unbiased advice, and who will personally handle
your program from start to finish.
Rob
Schron has more than 30 years of experience
planning business events. He founded our company in 1982 after having
held public relations and marketing management positions in the United
States with a number of European automobile companies, including Volkswagen
and BMW. Rob's auto industry experience included responsibility for organizing
meetings, conferences, trade show exhibits and incentive travel programs,
giving him insight into t he
dynamics of motivating and bringing together employees in the areas of
sales, customer service and management, and promoting new products to
wholesalers, retailers and the public. At BMW, he also helped create one
of the auto industry's first collections of officially authorized logo
merchandise, "Ultimates by BMW." Before his years in the auto
industry, Rob was director of public information for the Better Business
Bureau of Metropolitan New York and a sportswriter for various newspapers
on the East Coast. Rob is a veteran of the United States Navy, where he
served in military sea transport and logistics for the Atlantic Fleet.
A native New Yorker, he has written and contributed to a number of articles
on meeting and incentive planning; he also co-authored and edited a book
titled "Hotel Gems of France" published in Europe. Rob is a member of
both Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and the Society of Incentive
& Travel Executives (SITE), and has served as chairman of the International
Relations Committee of MPI's Greater New York chapter, which nominated
him for its "Planner of the Year" award in 2008. For information

Michael Schron
has been involved in business event planning for
over a decade, and has several additional years of experience as a business
event participant. In his prior career as an investment analyst, Michael
attended industry and institutional investor conferences around the world
and visited factories and other such facilities, often interacting with
senior corporate executives. His interest in business tourism as it relates
to globalization inspired him to join his family's business in 1998 after
several years at investment organizations such as Dean Witter Reynolds
(now part of Morgan Stanley). He was most recently an equity analyst at
the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), the world's largest sovereign
wealth fund. Michael spent over two years in the capital of the United
Arab Emirates, a country quickly becoming the major business and tourism
hub between Europe, Africa and Asia, and he is a certified Dubai travel
specialist. Michael's international financial experience gives him an
extensive knowledge of global venues for business events, an understanding
of the strategic goals of (and required return on investment in) such
events, and a personal familiarity with the needs of demanding business
travelers. We believe that this combination of backgrounds is unique in
our industry, and provides us an extra level of insight into what clients
value. Michael is a graduate of New York University's Stern School of
Business with a degree in Finance and Marketing, and has successfully
completed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program. He
has been quoted in such publications as Crain's New York Business and
Meetings & Conventions, and has spoken at industry events such
as the Professional Convention Management Association's 2007 meeting.
